The social skies?

So, Fight Club is an amazing movie, for so many reasons. Badass Edward Norton is one, La Bonham-Carter is another.

I think everyone smiles in recognition when Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden talks about his airline dilemma – after making a 'one serve' airline acquaintance, "…a question of etiquette - as I pass, do I give you the ass or the crotch?".

Dutch airline KLM has taken airplane socialising to a new level, allowing passengers the power to pick who they sit next to via social media. The opt-in system will display the Facebook and LinkedIn profile pages of each passenger on the flight, allowing passengers to identify friends and acquaintances and request seats accordingly, as explained on Mashable.

Would you choose a seat by a friend on a flight? I can see it working on trans-Tasman flights – not sure about a longer flight!
